Taj Design & Layout
Taj Mahal design is simply immaculate. The pertinent reason behind this is the planning and meticulous efforts by the Emperor Shahjahan. As he purchased a plot of land from Raja Jai Singh on the banks of Yamuna River, Shahjahan also made sure that Raja Jai Singh provides a regular supply of special, hard and non-porous marble from the quarries of Makrana. Thereafter, a 2½-mile (4.02 km) road ramp was built for the purpose making way with huge pieces of marble to the site of the construction. It is strange but true that the scaffolding of this magnificent building was made with bricks. It may be because of the lack of wood that made the architects to resort to brick scaffoldings.
